BIOGRAPHY

Clemens Bäre’s first songs, written in seclusion in Upper Austria, were never originally intended to be heard by others. Music has always served as a refuge, a “place to go” when things get too fast and too loud. In 2019, he finally ventured out, to give words to others who experience similar things, and perhaps even offer them that which his musical heroines of yesteryear also gave him.

Three years later, in 2022, he released his debut album “by design” as doppelfinger. In some places doppelfinger’s music seems to come from a past decade. With dylanesque harmonica playing, 60s-Witmark-Tape-Sound-Aesthetics or 80s-Springsteen guitars he takes us to a supposedly better time, wraps us up in a warm blanket of nostalgia. With that, but not only, the kind of music Clemens Bäre makes as doppelfinger can almost be seen as antithesis, as rebellion against our fast-moving, opulent pop zeitgeist. It needs and takes its time, while being timeless to the same degree.
