BIOGRAPHY
With distorted guitars and catchy hooks about confusion in the heart or head, the Viennese new wave artist fiio brings timeless indie rock sound combined with everyday romance. His lyrics circle around being too old and/or too young, quarter-life crisis and internet culture wrapped in instrumentals that sometimes quote the ’90s or 2000s…or just show the music world the middle finger. A common theme in his songs is life online, to which he has an odd relationship himself. It’s an absurd place – funny, creative, emotional and entertaining – but at the same time, it can also bring out the absolute worst in people.
From life in a small town to moving to a larger small town named Vienna, fiio creates authentic musical scenes from a film that has been running in your head for years but has never actually been filmed. fiio romanticizes everyday things just to have a little break from everything: cutting vegetables is a substitute for yoga. If that doesn’t help him find inner peace, there’s always below-average singing in the shower.
