From: Tyrol, Austria
Listening to the songs from this Tyrolean band is almost like being on an endless journey through a cloud filled dreamscape. Molly is comprised of two young musicians, Lars Andersson (vocals, guitar) and Phillip Dornauer (drums, sass, synthesizer). It is clear from their records that they have dedicated themselves to the post-rock shoegaze genre, a sound made famous in the 90’s by legendary bands like My Bloody Valentine and the Boo Radleys. A genre they have now stamped with their own individual style. They bring something new to the story, a very independent flavour that develops a rather idiosyncratic vibe.
Molly can let it escalate musically without becoming all to theatrical or piling on the pathos. The duo maintains a certain simplicity that relentlessly develops into something grand. These two seem to float through their songs rather than simply perform them. They slowly lay down layer after layer of guitar and synth sounds which eventually coalesce into an incredibly atmospheric and nebulously psychedelic state. To one which reaches into the depths and has a magically attractive appeal. Nothing seems to be clearly defined, the individual elements flow gently into each other in a restrained but energetic way.
Lars Andersson and Phillip Dornauer have already managed to make a name for themselves inside of Austria and are now touring intensely abroad to leave their mark on the international stage. Their songs invite the listener to simply let go and let themselves be enveloped by the music. Molly offer an extraordinary listening experience, one that will most definitely not go unnoticed.
