BIOGRAPHY

Vienna is fertile ground for highly-trained jazz virtuosi, some of whom decide now and then to move well beyond their own genre, exploring the outer reaches of pop music. oh alien: a surprised ‘oh!’ upon meeting the unknown in oneself and a dialogue with pop. A question, a call, a sigh, a laugh, a love letter. Raw and electrifying – songs as thrilling and melancholic as the blue hour.

Anselma Schneider, Luca Weigl, and Rafael Henninger write “intricately spun songs” (Ö1) that tell tales of micro-crises the size of bouncy castles and the shimmering dreams of twentysomethings. Experienced trouble-hoppers, the trio sings of the fear of failure, unrealistic expectations of oneself, and all their consequences – the quest to find a space where they don’t feel alien to themselves. It’s avant-garde pop – elegant ballads and complex pop songs, always possessed of a certain weirdness.

The trio’s EP “This Might Be The Place” appeared in 2021. Their first full-length album, produced by Sixtus Preiss, was released in 2024.
