Oscar Antoli Quartet

(c) Reza Maleki

Hailing from across Europe and from a wide range of musical backgrounds, the sounds that emerge from the collaboration of the musicians Oscar Antolí, Rainer Maria Nero, Marko Ferlan and Carlos Ronda are diverse and unique. The combination of mild, yet jovial tunes that are influenced by western and eastern Mediterranean music, fragments of medieval Iberian music and rhythms of Balkan-jazz evoke imaginations and memories of different people, lives and far away lands.

As the name of the album already suggests, the quartet takes us on a melodic journey to three peninsulas: Iberia, the Balkans and Anatolia. Inspired by the history and the cultures of the Mediterranean, the compositions are distinguished by eclecticism and aim to rebuild a bridge between the music of its Eastern and Western coasts.
