BIOGRAPHY

Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) is an egg-laying mammal. Much about this resilient species is strange, inexplicable, impossible to classify, and it is precisely these enigmatic categories that interest the Platypus ensemble.

Engaging with the spaces in between is what makes Platypus work and play. The musical focus that determines the ensemble’s intensive rehearsal and concert activities is the exploration in the field of tension between different types of music and approaches to making music together. At the same time, the temporal and spatial aspects always play a role in the dramaturgical conception of the concerts.

The musicians of Platypus are distinguished by their passion for concert formats that are always innovative and specifically developed, and which are characterised by an understanding of an expanded concept of music.
