13,800 Attend Waves Vienna 2014

In its just ended fourth edition, the organizers of the Waves Vienna Music Festival & Conference can draw a positive balance:
With 13,800 visitors and 923 delegates, both this year’s Waves Music Festival and Music Conference has grown in numbers (comparison to last year: 12,900 visitors and 811 delegates). In addition to the sold-out opening night with Scott Matthew in the Vienna Konzerthaus, the performance highlights of Dawa, Kwabs, Mirel Wagner, First Aid Kit and Thees Uhlmann were such a success that the doors had to be closed early due to the large number of visitors.

Festival director Thomas Heher:
“We would like to thank all artists, partners and festival visitors, and of course also the 923 conference delegates from 34 countries! This once again shows us how important and rewarding the exchange between Eastern and Western Europe is. We were very pleased to see that our new venues were well received – especially our new festival headquarters in the Heineken Music Space at the Alte Post, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the jazz club Porgy & Bess and the venue Brut Vienna. The collaboration with the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna at the Waves Music Conference also worked out very well and immensely added to the Vienna Music Business Research Days and the Waves Conference. Of course there is still room for improvement, but the current feedback shows us that we are on the right track.”
