Since its founding in 2002, Ensemble Reconsil Wien has become renowned for its diverse repertoire, encompassing new music from around the world, innovative concert cycles, and rarely performed pieces, alongside 20th-century classics. The ensemble is particularly known for its focus on the Vienna School’s chamber music and ensemble works, a result of its close collaboration with the Arnold Schönberg Center. Over the years, Ensemble Reconsil Wien has premiered numerous works by key composers such as Schönberg, Berg, and Webern.
In 2016, a new artistic leadership was formed, with composers and musicians Alexander Wagendristel, Maria Frodel, Manuela Kerer, Peter Jakober, and Thomas Heinisch taking on the role of artistic directors. Under their guidance, the ensemble continues to push the boundaries of contemporary classical music while preserving the rich tradition of 20th-century composers.
