BIOGRAPHY

The Kandinsky Quartet was founded in 2020 and is based in Vienna. They have been invited to festivals including Festival d’Aix-en-Provence (France), Rheingau-Festival (Germany), Styrian Chamber Music Festival (Austria), Brac Classic (Croatia), Wien Modern (Austria), Milano Musica (Italy), Stars and Rising Stars (Germany), Festival Música Sur (Spain), Chaise-Dieu (France), Venice Biennale (Italy) and Heidelberger Frühling (Germany).

In April 2024, they received the 1st prize at the Gasteig Competition in Munich. Furthermore, they are one of the 38 selected string quartets for the EU-funded program MERITA and are part of the ECMA program. They are also scholarship holders of Villa Musica as well as of Jeunesse Musicales Germany and are artists in residence within the framework of the annual summer cycle ArbeiterInnenkonzerte in Vienna, an outreach-project about social housing with ten concerts per season.

They have performed and gathered experience with prestigious string quartets such as Belcea Quartet, Arditti Quartet, Kuss Quartet, Ysaÿe Quartet, Cuarteto Casals, Danel Quartet, Artis Quartet, Mosaïques Quartet, Quatuor Diotima or Alban Berg Quartet, alongside with soloists and prominent figures of the international chamber music scene, such Nicolas Altstaedt, Bruno Giuranna, Amihai Grosz, Dirk Mommertz, Mathieu Herzog and Gabor Takacs-Nagy and Elisabeth Leonskaja, which as their mentor regularly invites them to share the stage with her.

Currently they are studying with Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and started their masters program with Quatuor Ébène at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in March 2023.

Engagements for season 24/25 include performances in halls like the Auditiorio Manuel de Falla Granada (Spain), Teatro Civico La Spezia (Italy) and festivals like Il Circolo di Ave (Italy), Impuls Festival (Austria), Inventio Music (France) and Mozartfest Würzburg (Germany).
