PETER ROSMANITH studied jazz drumming and percussion at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. He eventually discovered non-european music. Indian, Arabic, and Afro-Cuban music particularly caught his attention. His instruments range from the African Balaphone, the Arabic frame drum, Indian Tablas and Caribbean steel drum. All of those are complemented with various objects, following the philosophy “If you can hit it, you can make music with it”. Next to his concert work for various world music formations (YOK, Otto Lechner, Klaus Trabitsch, Bethlehem All Stars, Marwan Abado), Peter also works as a composer and musician for various theater, film, and audio productions.
Rosmanith’s global “percussion box” ranges from African Balaphon over the the Arab frame drum and the Indian Tablas to the hang and is complemented by everyday objects – with his hands he can make music with almost everything.
