BIOGRAPHY

In live performance, the Linz/Vienna-based band Schmack commands a lion’s share of the audience’s attention. Their second album, In Love (Seayou Records, 2024), encapsulates the raw energy, cohesion, and musicianship of their concerts, at times veering off into tangents before reconvening in climactic chord structures and beautiful jazz melodies. The release was widely celebrated, and after touring first-rate jazz clubs and festivals (Jazzfestival Saalfelden, Porgy and Bess Vienna, Opus Jazz Club Budapest, Jazzfestival Südtirol, Open Jazz Vienna, Ship Music Festival Croatia a.m.m.) Schmack even found themselves among the nominees for the 2025 Amadeus Austrian Music Awards (Best Sound) and the Austrian Jazz Award (Best Live Act).

First and foremost, they are music lovers deeply attuned to contemporary trends. Blending numerous influences and defying traditional conventions, Schmack’s music is exuberant and immensely enjoyable. Fearless improvisation paired with a love for simplicity is what gives the distinctive aftertaste one is left with after seeing them perform.
