BIOGRAPHY
With its distinctive blend of violin, cello, and electric microtonal keyboard with 31 keys per octave, the Vienna-based Trio Terrea creates a fresh musical perspective that reaches beyond conventional boundaries. The three musicians shape microtonality into a landscape of encounter between different musical disciplines — a realm where past and present confront each other. Central to their sound is the Claviton — a keyboard with 31 keys per octave, developed by Georg Vogel. It serves as a canvas for Amir Ahmadi, who applies diverse tuning systems to explore new microtonal possibilities, defining the ensemble’s sonic field. Within this space, Sarvin Hazin, a violinist rooted in both European classical and Persian Dastgah traditions, and Anna Maria Niemiec, a cellist primarily dedicated to new music and improvisation, fully unfold their artistry, merging with the keys to bridge the acoustic and the electronic into a single, fluid sound world.
Their debut album ´Raz´, released on Unit Records, presents Amir Ahmadi’s compositions, in which he intertwines fragments of Persian musical vocabulary with elements of modern music in a completely new and personal approach. Here, the trio moves fluidly between jazz, fusion, traditional, and contemporary idioms, weaving this diversity into a cohesive entity. With each member specializing in different disciplines, the trio delivers a deeply moving and unique listening experience, offering audiences an opportunity to immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of cultural influences and musical innovation.
