Each month, we spotlight up-and-coming jazz artists from Austria as part of the “5 Million Pesos” series — a monthly concert and radio broadcast dedicated to young jazz in and from Austria, presented by Radiokulturhaus Vienna and the Ö1 Jazz Department. For December, the spotlight shines on saxophonist, Gregor Storf’s: Partners in Time.
Gregor Storf’s Partners in Time
Concert: WED. | Dec. 10, 2025 | 8:00 p.m. | Studio 3
Broadcast: Ö1-Jazznacht, Jan. 10/11 2025 (Presentation: Katharina Osztovics)
28-year-old Gregor Storf from Vorarlberg is considered a great, multi-talented young hope of Austrian jazz. As a tenor saxophonist, he impressed – nominated by the Ö1 jazz editorial team – in May 2025 as part of the Euroradio Jazz Orchestra of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) in Ljubljana. His skills as a drummer are equally highly regarded, and Storf also has extensive knowledge as a pianist.
Partners in Time is the name of his new quintet, in which he appears as a tenor saxophonist, together with Max Wintersperger (trumpet), Urs Hager (piano), Philipp Zarfl (double bass), and Chris Parker (drums). The band presents original compositions that are deeply rooted in the jazz tradition. From this foundation, according to the press release, “the ensemble develops its own musical language—shaped by many years of collaboration and an unmistakable, organically grown band sound.”
