BIOGRAPHY

5/8erl in Ehr’n is a Vienna-based band known for shaping its own unmistakable sound: Viennese Soul. Since forming in 2006, the group has developed a stripped-down, yet groove-driven approach built around two equal lead voices and a drumless ensemble featuring double bass, guitar, accordion, piano, and wurlitzer.

Their music blends elements of jazz, soul, pop, and the Viennese song tradition, carried by dialect lyrics, warm harmonies, and an unforced rhythmic flow. What began as an insider tip quickly reached a wider audience, with songs becoming fixtures in Austrian pop culture and beyond. The band’s repertoire moves comfortably between intimacy and collective sing-alongs, balancing humor, melancholy, and understated elegance.

5/8erl in Ehr’n have released multiple studio and live albums on their own label, Viennese Soulfood Records, and have performed more than 1,000 concerts internationally, including tours in Europe, China, and Egypt. They are six-time winners of the Amadeus Austrian Music Award and regularly collaborate with partners such as Jazzorchester Vorarlberg.

Now entering their third decade as an active touring band, 5/8erl in Ehr’n continue to refine and expand their sound while remaining deeply rooted in Vienna’s musical identity.
