BIOGRAPHY
Hip Hop gave GERARD his confidence. For him, this culture is an expression of the idea that anything is possible if you want it, and that musical rules and borders were made to be broken. He still follows the rap scene that gave him his start, but now as a silent but enthusiastic observer from the sidelines. Although his previous sound found its beginnings in the global experimental beat underground, his sound has developed into a more contemporary yet innovative pop music similar to bands like Bilderbuch or Miike Snow. It’s still not really possible to force it into any standard genre.
While in 2013 GERARD was talked about being the “hottest newcomer” (1Live) and “musical highlight” (Juice), today he is considered as one of the hottest Austrian exports. In recent years GERARD made a name for himself for his unique productions and relatable adolescence lyrics and established himself as a powerful live act at more than 150 live shows. With his first two albums “Blausicht” and “Neue Welt” he was able to position himself in the Top 30 of the German Album Charts and Top 20 of the Austrian Album Charts. “Neue Welt” features guests and musicians like Maeckes, OK Kid and Lot as well as Patrick Pulsinger, Nvie Motho, Stickle, Claud, Alex The Flipper, René Mühlberger and Wandl. His third album “AAA” was released in 2017 on his own new label „Futuresfuture“, folloewed by numerous live performances, sold-out tours and a performance at Europe’s biggest hip-hop festival “Splash!” All of GERARD´s albums (“Blausicht”, “Neue Welt”, “AAA”) positioned themselves within the German and Austrian charts.
In recent years GERARD made a name for himself for his unique productions and relatable adolescence lyrics and established himself as a powerful live act at more than 150 live shows. He is announced to perform at Hamburg´s Reeperbahn Festival 2019. In his latest single „Dein Problem“ [Your Problem] Gerard addresses the thin line between holding on to old friendships and detaching from negative energies in the closest surrounding. Don´t we all have that one friend who only calls when he has problems?
