BIOGRAPHY

Wrapping the traditional sound in a new guise: The Moritz Weiß Klezmer Trio continues the history of klezmer and retells it in a wonderfully expanded musical language. Founded in 2015, the virtuoso trio builds a bridge from the past to the present, respectfully honouring the Jewish musical tradition and bringing it together with musical forms and styles from other eras. In their pieces, which range from sophisticatedly structured to energetic, the young trio interweaves klezmer with elements of jazz and classical music, among others, in an artful and multi-layered way. The result is a sound that emotionally captures the listener with its melodies, stimulates the imagination and opens the door to a new sphere.
Moritz Weiß Klezmer Trio was chosen to be NASOM act 2020/21.
