BIOGRAPHY
Jonny Kölbl (Styrian harmonica & percussion), Leo Waltersdorfer (vibraphone & percussion) and Hannes Schöggl (marimba & percussion) from the trio Quetsch `n’ Vibes prove in an impressive way that folk music does not always have to sound the same, but can also sound different by using other instruments. The three musicians are rethinking Austria’s traditional music and have set themselves the task of transferring the instrument of their homeland – the Styrian harmonica – into different musical styles.
In their new arrangements and original compositions, the trio opens up to other styles in an original way and takes the traditional to something excitingly new, which shines in bright musical colours and sounds both native and cross-border. An exciting attempt to reinterpret the familiar.
