BIOGRAPHY
Ralph Mothwurf is one of the most sought-after composers of Austria’s young generation. In recent years, he has been a major driving force in the Austrian music scene and has been awarded numerous prizes and scholarships: Talent Promotion Award of the Province of Upper Austria, State Scholarship of the Province of Austria, Composition Scholarship BMKOES, Working Scholarship City of Vienna and many more. Since 2021 Ralph Mothwurf teaches composition and arrangement at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz.
His compositional work includes commissions for festivals such as the Communale OÖ, the Wellenklänge Festival and the OnQ Festival. In addition, Mothwurf works with well-known Austrian orchestras such as the Tonkünstler Orchester, the Janus Ensemble and the Jazzorchester Vorarlberg. With the founding of his own orchestra, he achieved international fame. The debut album ZELT (Edition Ö1) was selected as album of the year by the jazz editors of Deutschlandfunk in 2020.
