JJ sings his way into the hearts of Europe with “Wasted Love” and wins the Eurovision Song Contest 2025!

With 258 points from the international juries and 178 points from the audience, he was crowned the winner ahead of Israel and Estonia in an exciting vote. The 70th Song Contest will therefore take place in Austria in 2026.

ORF Director General Roland Weißmann: “This love was not wasted, it reached the whole of Europe and was impressively returned. We congratulate JJ on his fantastic performance and are proud to have accompanied him on his path to success, just as we did with Conchita Wurst. And so, after the 60th anniversary ten years ago, the ESC will also be a guest in Austria in its 70th year. The work for this begins immediately, as does the excitement for this event.”

ORF Program Director Stefanie Groiss-Horowitz: “JJ, with your voice of gold and your nerves of steel, you have inspired the world and made an entire nation proud! I thank you from the bottom of my heart and look forward to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Austria.”

JJ: “I bring’s hoam!” (in dialect: “I bring it home!”) The victory is more than I ever dared to hope for. It really is a crazy feeling.” In addition: “I wanted the audience to feel how I felt when we wrote the song during my performance. It makes me very happy that people react so positively to it. Love is never wasted, it is the most powerful force in the world. We need it now more than ever.”

JJ secured Austria’s third victory in the world’s biggest music competition after Udo Jürgens (1966) and Conchita Wurst (2014). Another top spot was achieved by Cesar Sampson, who sang his way to third place in 2018.
