Waves Vienna 2024: Call for Acts & Guest Country Colombia

Waves Festival logo 2023

We know; it seems weird to talk about a fall event when summer is only just on the horizon…but Waves Vienna, our fair city’s biggest music biz showcase & conference, has to be planned well in advance, and preparations for this year’s edition (happening from September 5 – 7) are already in full swing. And they have news: this year’s guest country of honor is Colombia, and they’re still looking for acts to fill out the program!

Guest of honor: Colombia

Every now and then, Austrian Music Export goes on fact-finding missions to faraway lands to find out what’s going on in the music scene there. A recent trip, in November 2023, led the team to Colombia, where initial contacts were made with the music industry and scene. A closer analysis of the market revealed its diversity, openness, and suitability for cooperation and exchange programs – reason enough for Waves Vienna to take the opportunity to present Colombian music, its market, and its scene at the 2024 edition of the festival.

Colombian acts, delegates, and topics to be highlighted at the festival will be announced in the course of the next few months. For now, Waves Vienna is pleased to present the first act from Colombia: the Colombia-born, Vienna-based musician David Arcos (whom you may know from the band Strandhase).
