BIOGRAPHY

JANKA finds the extraordinary in the mundane – writing about everyday emotional outbursts, dying houseplants, mobile network providers, or a shared hatred of olives. The Innsbruck-based four-piece indie-pop band wraps highly relatable German lyrics into playful arrangements driven by catchy brass melodies and an infectious sense of lightness. Moving effortlessly from laid-back disco-funk rhythms to influences of the Hamburger Schule, JANKA creates a distinct, refreshing sound that stands out completely from polished mainstream pop.
Whether on small club stages or in front of large festival crowds, they invite audiences into an honest, vulnerable, and humorous world. Fronted by singer and songwriter Bianca Ehrenstraßer alongside Carole Bidaine (trumpet, trombone, keys), Martin Bayer (bass) and Finn Achatz (drums), the quartet has quickly built impressive momentum.

Their singles, including ´Wenn du dann weg bist´ and ´Mein Kopf will allein sein´ achieved heavy radio rotation on major stations like NDR 2, NDR Blue, and Bayern 2, with additional features on ORF FM4, Deutschlandfunk, ByteFM, and Radioeins. Beyond reaching an impressive #34 on the German Mainstream Airplay Charts and hitting the top 10 on the MDR Sachsen charts, their music has been featured on various editorial playlists. Their growing success is matched by a strong live presence, including a TV appearance on Germany´s ZDF Morgenmagazin (Moma) and showcases at prestigious festivals like the Reeperbahn Festival and WAVES VIENNA. Accompanied by a release tour across Austria, their highly anticipated debut album, ´Nicht von dieser Welt“, is released via Vienna´s boutique indie label Feber Wolle records.
