BIOGRAPHY

Growing up in a small town in Austria, Jo’s musical journey began at just six years old, learning to play the violin and the clarinet. Early on, she began turning experiences and observations into lyrics – this always being a form of inner dialogue that creates space for the unspoken. Raw and authentic, she now looks up to women and role models like Adrienne Lenker, Carole King, and Joni Mitchell. Her music is a conversation between chaos and the sense of belonging, blending her small-town roots with the urban vibrancy she’s embraced during her ventures in cities like London and Berlin. With Jo The Man The Music, Jo invites listeners on a journey that’s as introspective as it is universal, offering a voice not just for young women, but for a global audience hungry for music that feels both relevant and timeless.

Jo The Man The Music bridges past and present, weaving elements from decades gone by into a modern, forward-thinking sound. The name itself reflects Jo’s self-perception as a strong, authentic artist while playfully challenging traditional gender roles. It’s a call to question stereotypes and redefine strength with a touch of humor. Distorted electric guitars meet a delicate singer-songwriter sound, creating a modern, yet nostalgic world that sits comfortably between indie and alternative pop.
Her debut EP will be released in 2025 and comprises six songs that delve into the struggles and hopes of a generation. They explore themes of self-acceptance, inner chaos, societal expectations, and the beauty of vulnerability when strength and fragility meet.
