Marlene, Nele and Sara got to know each other and their instruments in 2015 at the pink noise Girls Rock Camp in Linz. In 2017, they released their first 7“ with the Viennese label Fettkakao – followed by the debut album „FEST“ in late 2018. Their past performances have taken place at events such as Popfest and Gender Crash in Vienna, Popméter in Hungary and YOUKI in Wels. Combining e-bass, e-guitar, drums, laptop, alto flute and vocals in an unconventional way La Sabotage create their very own sound, that doesn’t fit into any genre definition but encompasses several in one song already.
The band has no fear of experimenting with what they’ve got: There’s voice getting sent through guitar effect pedals and a drumbeat inspired by the rhythm of a suitcase wheeled across the pavement of a viennese street. In their lyrics they question their own realities and mental states but also ubiquitous capitalist structures.
But why has no one pointed out the misspelled grammar in their bandname, you ask yourself now? They intentionally rejected the male article „Le“ and replaced it through the female „La“, not caring about norms – be they grammatical or related to gender.
