BIOGRAPHY

Samuel Toro Pérez (they/them) is a multifaceted guitarist, performer, composer and producer based in Vienna. Rooted in contemporary music, their work spans both traditional concert performances and transdisciplinary collaborations in contexts such as theatre, dance and performance art. In their solo projects (e.g. Ambient Studies, Pink Opaque), Samuel explores the intersections of classical contemporary music, club culture and experimental electronic sound worlds, delving into ambient, drone, noise and techno with a particular focus on feedback systems and performativity.

Samuel’s ongoing collaborations include their role as a member of the Viennese collective andother stage (e.g. Posthuman Social Club Series, since 2023; When we play, Wien Modern 2024) and Samuel’s long-term co-operation with theatre director Maximilian Hanisch (e.g. The Lobster, Zurich 2022; The Conversation, Basel & Berlin 2023; HER – best ever love songs vol. 2, Zurich 2024). Additionally, Samuel makes regular guest appearances with ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, Schallfeld Ensemble Graz and Black Page Orchestra and teaches contemporary chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
