BIOGRAPHY

BRUCH is the long-standing solo project of Philipp Hanich, based in Vienna, Austria. With a deep understanding of pop culture and subcultures, BRUCH blends emotionally charged crooning with the raw energy of a vitriolic spitfire. His music is vulnerable yet forceful, grandiose yet intimate, sometimes gruff and crackling with overdrive. His evocative, unadorned vocal style pulls listeners in, instantly captivating them with his stories.

Since releasing his debut LP in 2012, BRUCH has been combining dark electronics with rock’n’roll (noir) and Schlager music, creating a distinct, minimalist sound. Whether performing solo or with a full band, BRUCH embraces a wide range of musical styles to serve his artistic vision, always staying true to his unique approach.

In addition to his music, Philipp Hanich is a visual artist, hand-painting his album covers with the same stark, uncompromising style found in his music. Hanich is also the co-founder of Cut Surface (since 2016) and Totally Wired Records (2012-2016), two music labels that further reflect his innovative approach to the industry.

BRUCH continues to be a dynamic and evolving force in the music scene, merging diverse genres and pushing artistic boundaries with every release.
